We in the New England Chapter want you to know all About the SCTE and the New England Chapter activities. To help us do that, we are participating in the National “Ask me about SCTE” campaign. This program is directed under the Outreach Committee, led by the VP, Outreach. There are so many things to know, and so many people who want to know, that the Board decided that they alone could not get all the information to all the people. To assist in this Outreach effort, the Chapter also has taken a cue from the AAA Program, and added the title of Advocate to our Board support team. By definition the Field Advocate is a Field level System Operations person, who fills a role on the Outreach Committee. In a nutshell, the Field Advocate is the primary SCTE POC (Point of Contact) for their working group. This position is an annual appointment, and has three main priorities: This is accomplished through email and phone calls to the Chapter Board Advocate (VP, Outreach Committee), letting that person know what issues are brought up in local discussion about the SCTE. This position serves as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the Board to keep the Board tuned in to what our members and non-members have to say. We want to be able to react to this feedback, and provide services and training that are pertinent, timely, and effective. Our goal is to have Field Advocates throughout our Chapter area, in MSO’s and contractors locations, and wherever we can develop an interest in the SCTE. We’d like to have you think about serving as an Advocate. It’s easy, won’t take much of your time, and you’ll provide a tremendous value to the Chapter. The more we know about those in our Chapter area and what the think and want, the better we can serve everyone.
